Introducing Lorraine: A New Chapter in South African Medical Education
Lorraine Team

Today we launch Lorraine, the South African exam prep platform built by doctors, for doctors. It is designed for the reality of ward rounds, night shifts, and the relentless pace of clinical life.
Lorraine focuses on CMSA board exams today, and it is built to grow with your career through medical school support and CPD. We want the path to specialist certification to feel achievable, structured, and fair.
This is a platform shaped by local practice, local guidelines, and the questions South African doctors actually face. It is the resource we wish we had when we were preparing for boards. Content is curated with input from specialists who understand what examiners look for, so every section has a clear purpose and real clinical relevance.
Most importantly, Lorraine helps turn study into a habit you can sustain, even when the schedule is unpredictable.
The problem
Studying between clinical duties is exhausting. Time is fragmented, energy is low, and the pressure to perform is constant.
Generic prep tools are expensive, misaligned, and rarely reflect South African guidelines or drug names. Too often, doctors waste hours on content that does not match the CMSA blueprint or local practice.
The mental load is just as heavy: tracking progress, identifying weak areas, and building a realistic schedule can feel like a second job.
The result is uncertainty right when your career depends on precision. You should not have to guess whether you are studying the right material at the right depth.
Why Lorraine
Lorraine is built exclusively for CMSA expectations and local clinical context. Every question, flashcard, and simulation is written to help you pass boards on the first attempt.
We are not just another study app. We are your partner in becoming a specialist, offering structure, focus, and consistent momentum when the workload feels overwhelming.
You do not need more to do - you need smarter ways to do what you already do. Lorraine turns exam preparation into a guided, achievable journey.
The goal is simple: less time wasted, more time mastering the topics that matter most for your exam and your patients.
What makes it different
Coverage mapped to CMSA blueprints so your study time mirrors exam weighting and high-yield topics.
Local-first content with South African drug names, guidelines, and clinical context you actually see on the wards.
Adaptive learning that targets weak areas, balances difficulty, and keeps you on pace without burnout.
Multiple learning modes that reinforce each other so you learn concepts, not just answers.
Clear progress tracking so you always know what to do next and why.
A content roadmap that scales beyond boards, so Lorraine stays useful as your career evolves.
Four ways to learn
Question bank: Thousands of MCQs with clear explanations and imaging. Learn why the right answer is right, and why distractors are wrong.
Flashcards: Spaced repetition that locks in high-yield facts and brings back what you keep missing, right when you need it.
OSCE simulations: Structured stations with checklists and examiner-style feedback so you can practice clinical reasoning under pressure.
Daily stories: 3-5 minute bursts that keep momentum on your busiest days and build consistency over time.
Each mode is designed to reinforce the others, so your learning is both efficient and durable.

Designed for your schedule
Set your exam date, pick a cadence, and study in the moments you actually have. Lorraine fits nights, weekends, and everything in between.
The app remembers where you left off and adapts to your availability, so even short sessions move you forward.
Whether you can commit 20 minutes or an hour, the system scales the plan without losing momentum.
Progress that keeps you on track
Intelligent progress tracking shows mastery by topic, accuracy trends, and study time so you can see real movement, not just effort.
Weak-area detection highlights what needs attention and recommends the right mix of questions, cards, and simulations.
Set a target exam date and Lorraine keeps you focused with a countdown and clear weekly goals.
Daily streaks and milestones make progress visible and keep you motivated through the hardest weeks.
You will always know what to focus on next and how close you are to being exam-ready.
